Laverne Woods Dunn has been a member of the helping professions for over thirty-three years. Her roles have included Consultant, Counselor, Child-centered educator (Prek-12), Advocate, Administrator, and Missionary (29 short-term trips).She attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe pursuing was in of Doctor of Philosophy in Marriage and Family Therapy (ABD. She holds a Master’s Degree in Family Studies from Texas Woman’s University and is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education certified in grades Prek-8th grade from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA.
Currently, she serves as a Louisiana Department of Education Contract Consultant in the McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program, working with an extraordinary leader, our State Coordinator, Dr. Antiqua Hunter. Together, we have the privilege of ensuring that students experiencing homelessness enroll immediately, stay, and have opportunities for success in school through grant program oversight and implementation of the McKinney-Vento Act.
